Aveeno Fresh Essentials Review

With the dry winter months it's important to keep your skin moisturized, so I was absolutely delighted and honored to try out Aveeno's Fresh Essentials line! I personally am well acquainted with Aveeno because ever since I was younger, my mom would always get the Aveeno oatmeal bath to sooth irritated skin. It was her go to product!

Moving on to the Fresh Essentials line by Aveeno! This line contains three products, a Nourishing Moisturizer with SPF 30, Hydrating Night Cream and lastly, a Daily Exfoliating Scrub and for the past few weeks I have been putting all three products to the test!

Aveeno's Claim

"Keep the good In: Featuring an exclusive formula enriched with anti-oxidant ACTIVE NATURALS® Southernwood Extract and vitamins A,C, & E, FRESH ESSENTIALS® products are clinically proven to replenish and retain moisture to tired skin, leaving the skin looking and feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and radiant.

Keep the bad OUT: FRESH ESSENTIALS® products strengthen the skin's moisture barrier with anti oxidant ACTIVE NATURALS® Southernwood Extract, helping to protect skin from drying environmental stressors."

First Impression

A line of skincare products that has oodles of vitamins? Count me in! Overall, the first thing I noticed was the fresh scent that all three products have. The scent isn't overbearing, it's just a subtle fresh scent.

AVEENO FRESH ESSENTIALS Nourishing Moisturizer SPF 30

Pros: When it comes to daily moisturizers I look for simple creams that are lightweight yet keep my skin moisturized. My skin gets oily easily if I apply something too heavy or pore clogging. In saying that, this is definitely a lightweight moisturizer! I love the packaging because the pump makes it easy to dispense the product. One pump of this stuff is the perfect amount for application. After applying this product, it leaves my skin feeling soft without making me oily. I am pleased to say that this moisturizer has a SPF of 30 because it's important to protect and nourish your skin from harmful UV rays. This moisturizer is also oil-free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic!

Cons: This moisturizer would not be ideal if you plan on participating in flash photography after application because as with anything with a SPF, it will not reflect the flash well. Other than that, this is an excellent moisturizer!

The AVEENO FRESH ESSENTIALS Nourishing Moisturizer SPF 30 has a retail value of $16.97-$19.99 CAD for a 74 ml bottle and can be purchased nationwide at food, drug and mass merchandisers.

Pros: I don't know about you but I LOVE waking up to soft, hydrated skin! Waking up to good skin is the ultimate canvas for makeup application and is the key to glowing skin in my opinion. This night cream does just that! It's a little bit thicker than the previous mentioned moisturizer as most night creams are but I find it soothing to dry skin.

I recently spent the last couple of weeks combating a cold which I was blowing my nose a lot and by a lot I mean demolishing three boxes of tissues, resulting in a very dry nose! Eeeeeek! Just before sleep I would smother this night cream on my face while paying special attention to my nose which lead my nose to a speedy recovery! This is my go to night cream in my vast time of need. This hydrating night cream is also oil-free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.

Cons: It does make my skin feel a little oily because of the thickness of the cream but because it's a night cream it doesn't bother me too much. When I wake up in the morning I just splash a little cold water on my face and I'm left with soft skin that doesn't feel oily. Keep in mind that I do have an oily skin type!

The AVEENO FRESH ESSENTIALS Hydrating Night Cream has a retail value of $16.97-19.99 CAD for a 49 ml jar and can be purchased nationwide at food, drug and mass merchandisers.

Pros: I love me a good exfoliator! It's important to exfoliate your skin to rejuvenate. It clears out the dead skin cells and deep cleans those pores leading you to healthier looking skin. I am in love with the Daily Exfoliating Scrub from Aveeno! It's a gentle yet efficient exfoliator that is enriched with natural luffa and coconut pulp. It contains little micro-grains to ensure a beneficial exfoliation. I like to use the AVEENO FRESH ESSENTIALS Nourishing Moisturizer after exfoliation to ensure maximum results and guess what folks? It really does work! This exfoliator is also oil-free and hypoallergenic.

Cons: As much as I love this exfoliator, I wouldn't use it daily. Instead, I'd use it 2-3 times weekly. My skin can be sensitive to over exfoliation, even if the formula is gentle.

The AVEENO FRESH ESSENTIALS Daily Exfoliating Scrub has a retail value of $9.97-$12.99 CAD for a 145 ml tube and can be purchased nationwide at food, drug and mass merchandisers.

My Overall Assessment

I love all three of these products as I will continue to use them! I throughly enjoyed quenching my skin’s thirst with the entire AVEENO FRESH ESSENTIALS line. I would recommend this to anyone looking to optimize on skin moisturizers, night creams and exfoliators while it leaves your skin soft to the touch and infuses your skin with the vitamins and other nutrients needed to combat dry skin.

** Special thanks to Aveeno for sending me these complimentary products. All opinions expressed in this review article are my own honest opinions upon throughly testing out the product.
